I have been in a wonderful trip in Bulgaria with my students at the Seminary. It was very nice. The Balcik resort si really neat. We stayed in a hotel just by the seashore in a small boats port. I had my balcony towords the sea. We stayed from Thursday through Sunday at noon. The food was very good and pretty cheap. The people there were very nice. Some of them could speak Romanian pretty well. Mostly the waiters and waitresses. There were some beautiful singers whom we took picture with. The difference between Romanian seashore is that they have small mountains around. the single minus I found is that the sun doesnt rise from the sea but behind the mountains. But it wonderful anyway. The students had a lot of fun. They sang and dance a lot. They even took the teachers and throw them up ceerfully , including me. I smoke with them. I bought a pipe and good tobaco and smoke. The hotel provided us with breakfast so we could eat as much as we could. They also provided us with a dinner in the last night. The dinner wasn't enough, but anyway we were happy with it. The girls were very nice with us and I think I could get into a love affare but it was too short. I don't use to hook up so easy when I'm away. I bought a pair of slippers for me. I also bought a bottle of wisky and a few packs of coffee. I had to miss the school for two days for that trip. We travelled by a coach. we crossed the border at Vama Veche. From Balcik we went to Albena at the Golden Sands and to Varna City also. We visited a car market and saw ceap cars, much cheaper than in our country. I saw a Ford with less than $4ooo. When we came back home we stopped at a supermarket in Constanta where I saw useful items for travelling like sleepling bags and tents. I defenitely must go back there to buy some for me. The students invited me for free. I only needed to pay my extrameals. All in all it was a good opportunity for me to see new places.
The education in my country is still communist. The teachers are still a kind of dictators, because the process of education is not student centered. The students are still kept in classrooms like cattle. They don't move to another classroom between lessons. Sometimes they don't even open the windows of the classroom, and the air becomes unbearable. As a teacher, I've been through rough experiences in a high school in Urziceni where there are mostly rich students. They make the classroom their own space and rules. As a new teacher you have to adapt to their own environment and make nice to them, so you get accepted. Most teachers use as a discipline weapon the subject assessment mark. In Romania teachers can assess orally anytime a student, so if you think a student does is not behaving or is being disrespectful, you can 'listen' to them on the spot and give a low mark. Most teachers make sure that that specific student does not know how to answer the question. This...
